Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Sajha Haat collects, how it is used, and your choices. It applies to the Sajha Haat website and apps. By using the service you agree to this policy.

Who we are

Sajha Haat is an online classifieds service for vehicles, real estate and second-hand goods in Nepal. In this policy "we" and "us" mean the operator of Sajha Haat. You can reach us through the in-product contact form; we do not publish a personal email address.

Data we collect

Information you provide: your name and email address (and, where enabled, phone number) through Google sign-in or email; the listings, descriptions, prices, locality and photos you post; and the messages and support requests you send.

Information collected automatically: basic device and usage data such as browser type, approximate network location, and the pages you view, used to operate and secure the service. We use cookies and local storage only for sign-in sessions and essential function.

We avoid data we do not need. Uploaded photos have their embedded location (EXIF/GPS) and camera metadata removed before processing. We do not intentionally collect government IDs, payment card numbers or other sensitive identifiers.

What is public

Listings you publish - title, description, category facts, price, declared seller type, locality and approved photos - are public and may appear on the website, in the apps, in search engines and in link previews. Do not put private information in a listing or message. We do not publish your email, phone number, exact address, document scans or private account identifiers in public pages. A phone number is shared with another user only through a feature that requires your action or consent.

How we use data

To provide, operate, secure and improve the service; to publish the listings you ask us to publish; to enable enquiries and messages between users; to moderate content and prevent fraud and abuse; to respond to your requests; and to meet legal obligations.

Our staff may read messages between users, including a reported conversation, to investigate fraud, abuse or a breach of our terms, and to help when you ask us to.

We email you when someone sends a message about one of your ads or replies in one of your conversations. You can turn these emails off in the app under Account, Notifications.

If you are signed in and turn on "Email me new matches" for a saved search, we keep that search (its filters and name) with your account and email you new ads that match it, with a record of which ads we already sent so none is sent twice. These alerts are opt-in. You can turn them off for one search under Saved in the app, or for all searches under Account, Notifications; removing the search or deleting your account deletes what we keep.

How we share data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it for us under contract (for example hosting, authentication, messaging and media storage, including Appwrite and our sign-in and hosting providers), with other users to the extent needed for a listing or enquiry you take part in, and where required to comply with law or protect rights and safety. Some providers may process data outside Nepal with appropriate safeguards.

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires, then delete or anonymise it. Published-listing and message records may be kept for a reasonable period for safety, dispute and legal-record purposes.

When you delete your account, your ads and every stored size of their photos are erased. Copies of photos cached by our content network expire within a day. An ad that is paused, sold or taken down is not deleted and keeps its photos.

Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and withdraw consent. You can edit or remove your listings in the app, and delete your account in the app (Account, then Delete account) or through the contact form; the Delete your account page explains what is deleted and what is kept. We act on verified requests as the law requires. Deletion is subject to content already shared or cached and to records we must keep by law.

Security

We use access controls, row- and file-level permissions, encryption in transit, a private photo store and metadata stripping to protect data. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security; you use the service at your own risk.

Children

The service is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party sign-in

If you sign in with Google, that provider’s privacy policy also applies to the data it handles. The service may link to third-party sites we do not control.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy; material changes take effect when posted with a new date. For privacy questions or requests, use the contact form and choose the privacy subject.
